8 Badass GT Cars To Look Out For In 2016

2016.04.04

There are some brilliantly stunning looking GT cars racing in motorsport this season, here are some that will definitely catch your eye!

1. Ford GT

Chip Ganassi Racing will field two new GTs in the FIA World Endurance Championship and two in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, with all four racing at Le Mans in 2016. Read more about the car here.

2. Ferrari 488 GTE

The 488 GTE continues to be one of the most attention-grabbing GT cars in motorsport. We’ll see them in the FIA WEC and WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

3. Porsche 911 RSR

More specifically the Gulf Racing machines competing in the FIA WEC this season, it looks amazing in the blue and orange livery. It certainly captures my attention! The 911 RSR also races in numerous other endurance championships including the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and Blancpain Endurance series.

4. Chevrolet Corvette C7.R

How aggressive does the C7.R look in bright yellow? We love it! The striking V8-powered Chevy will appear in the FIA WEC, WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and at Le Mans. Not only does it look good, but it sounds good too!

5. McLaren 650S GT3

Without a doubt one of my favourite GT cars out there at the moment, the 650S GT3 recently found success at the 2016 Bathurst 12 Hours. The beautiful McLaren machine races in a wide range of GT championships around the world including Aussie GTs, British GTs and the Blancpain GT series. It looks pretty amazing in orange, too!

6. Mercedes AMG GT3

How badass does the AMG GT3 look? I don’t think there could be a more aggressive GT car. The 6.2-litre, naturally aspirated V8 produces around 500bhp. It will race in numerous GT championships in 2016, turning heads at race tracks around the world.

7. Lamborghini Huracan GT3

The V10-powered beast looks damn good on track and off it, especially in green. It will be one of the most eye-catching machines in the Blancpain GT championships this year and will light up the race circuits in a variety of other sportscar series, including over in Japan, so the Huracan GT3 will certainly get plenty of airtime this year, fortunately for us!

8. Lexus RC F GT500

This one might split opinion. The RC F GT500 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine producing around 500bhp and sports an aggressive aero package, upping the visual anger considerably*. It may not be the most competitive car in the Super GT’s GT500 class but it is definitely a looker! Another version, the RC F GT3, will appear in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship this year too, as a bonus.
